Thin-Film Microelectrode – Single Working Electrode (Pt / Au)
The MicruX Thin-Film Microelectrode – Single Working Electrode is a precision-engineered electrochemical sensor featuring either a gold (Au) or platinum (Pt) working electrode. Designed for advanced research applications, this microfabricated electrode integrates seamlessly into microfluidic, biosensing, and analytical systems where sample volume and measurement accuracy are critical.
This thin-film sensor is fabricated on a 10 × 6 × 0.7 mm glass substrate, using SU-8 or polyimide (PI) resin as a protective insulation layer. The electrode incorporates a three-electrode layout, consisting of a 1 mm Ø working electrode and matching reference and auxiliary electrodes, all based on the same metal system—either Ti/Au (50/150 nm) or Ti/Pt (50/150 nm). This uniformity ensures excellent electrochemical compatibility and reliable performance.
The MicruX thin-film electrode is optimised for low-volume sample analysis (1–5 µL), making it particularly suitable for drop-cell, batch-cell, and flow-cell systems. The electrode is compatible with standard potentiostats via the MicruX Drop-Cell Connector and All-in-One Cell interfaces, allowing flexible integration in static and dynamic configurations.
Common applications include electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), redox studies, biosensor development, and nanotechnology research. With its high fabrication resolution, low background current, and chemical stability, this sensor is an excellent platform for both routine and exploratory electroanalytical work.
Researchers in Australia and New Zealand trust MicruX electrodes for their reproducibility, miniaturisation, and compatibility with microanalytical systems. These sensors are widely used across academic and industrial laboratories seeking high-quality thin-film microelectrodes.
