20A/40A/100A Current Booster

±20A/40A/100A Current Booster

Overview & Principle

This high-current booster series extends the output capability of a host potentiostat/galvanostat to support demanding electrochemical loads. When paired with a compatible single-, bi- or multi-channel workstation, the booster routes the control signal from the potentiostat and delivers a proportionally higher current to the cell while the base instrument maintains potential control and data acquisition. Available variants raise the current limit to ±20 A, ±40 A, or ±100 A for one channel at a time, enabling accurate potential-controlled experiments on large-area or low-impedance cells.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Models: CS2020B / CS2040B / CS2100B (±20 A / ±40 A / ±100 A)
  • Integration: Connects to Corrtest single-channel (e.g., CS350M/CS310M/CS300M) and to one channel of bi- or multichannel systems (e.g., CS2350M/CS2150M/CS310X). One booster drives one channel of a bi-/multichannel frame.
  • Base instrument ranges (for context): typical standalone limits are up to ±2 A/±10 V for single-channel units and ±1 A/±10 V per channel for bi/multichannel systems; the booster elevates current capacity while potential control remains with the host.
  • Compliance & voltage: governed by the paired potentiostat; use the booster when higher current is required without compromising potential regulation.

Compatibility

Optimised for Corrtest workstations across corrosion, materials and battery research. It is routinely combined with single-channel systems or with one selected channel on multichannel frames.

Typical Applications

  • Fuel cell component and MEA testing
  • Battery cell/core and pouch-cell experiments
  • Water electrolysis and electroplating at high current density
These use-cases are documented in Corrtest application notes and model briefs for the CS2020B and related boosters.
