Scitech Korea SE100K-AE AEMWE Stack Test Station (100 kW)

Overview

The SE100K-AE AEMWE Stack Test Station is a research-grade platform for controlled testing and validation of anion exchange membrane water electrolyser (AEMWE) stacks up to ~100 kW. It integrates power delivery, process control, and gas handling into a single automated system so researchers and engineers can quantify performance, efficiency, and durability under realistic operating conditions.

Principle of operation

A DC power subsystem drives the electrolyser stack while the station regulates electrolyte/water circulation, temperature, and pressure. Product gases are routed through conditioning hardware for gas–liquid separation, cooling/condensation management, and drying, enabling stable flow measurement and safety monitoring. Continuous sensing supports detection of operating drift, crossover risk, and transient behaviour during polarisation curves, step tests, and long-duration endurance runs.

Key features and specifications

  • Test range: ~100 kW
  • Cabinet footprint: 1500 (W) × 3000 (D) × 2200 (H) mm
  • Gas flow measurement (typical): H₂ up to 500 slpm, O₂ up to 250 slpm
  • Mass flow control performance: turndown 100:1
  • Automated N₂ purge: anode and cathode purge via MFC control
  • Electrolyte circulation: liquid temperature control (RT to ~95 °C), level monitoring/alarm, liquid–gas separation, and flow control (pump + flow metering)
  • Gas conditioning: cooling/condensation trap and filtration/drying options with dew point monitoring pathways
  • Crossover monitoring: H₂-in-O₂ and O₂-in-H₂ concentration detection (typical 0–5% range)
  • Pressure control: automated back-pressure control up to 10 bar (higher-pressure options available)
  • Optional diagnostics: AC impedance / HFR capability (typical 10 mHz to 10 kHz) for ohmic and contact-resistance trending

Typical applications

  • AEMWE stack commissioning, acceptance testing, and BoP validation
  • Efficiency mapping vs temperature/pressure/flow and operating strategy optimisation
  • Safety and crossover studies under dynamic load profiles
  • Durability testing for membranes, catalysts, and porous transport layers
