Stack Test Station (100 kW) – Alkaline Water Electrolyser (SE100K-AL)
Overview
The SE100K-AL Stack Test Station (100 kW) is an integrated balance-of-plant and controls platform for controlled testing of alkaline water electrolyser (AWE) stacks at realistic power levels. It combines high-power DC delivery, electrolyte circulation, gas handling, and automated safety logic so engineers can generate repeatable datasets for performance, efficiency, durability, and gas crossover.
Principle of operation
The station drives electrolysis under programmable current/voltage control while managing a closed-loop alkaline electrolyte circuit (typically ~30% KOH). The electrolyte loop provides temperature conditioning (RT to ~95 °C), flow control, liquid-level monitoring and alarms, plus liquid/gas separation. On both anode and cathode sides, produced gases pass through cooling/condensation traps and drying/filtration before flow and concentration checks. Automated back-pressure regulation stabilises pressure for steady polarisation curves and long-duration operation.
Key specifications (typical configuration)
- Model / power: SE100K-AL, up to 100 kW
- System dimensions: 1500 (W) × 3000 (D) × 2200 (H) mm
- Gas flow measurement: H₂ up to ~500 slpm, O₂ up to ~250 slpm (typical)
- Back-pressure control: max 10 bar (up to 30 bar optional)
- Safety & diagnostics: auto N₂ purge, H₂-in-O₂ / O₂-in-H₂ monitoring, alarms and shutdown interlocks
- Optional electrochemical diagnostics: cell voltage monitoring and HFR/EIS (10 mHz–10 kHz) for resistance tracking
Compatibility and integrations
Designed for alkaline stacks and alkaline-compatible AEM systems, with configurable fittings/sensors to match your stack and test protocol. It complements early-stage screening using potentiostats/bipotentiostats and can be paired with external gas analytics (e.g., GC) for deeper product-gas characterisation.
