Im7

High-end modular potentiostat / galvanostat with an integrated frequency response analyzer (FRA) — built for researchers who demand both precision and flexibility across the full range of electrochemical applications

IM7 Highlights:

The IM7 is a high-end modular potentiostat / galvanostat featuring an integrated frequency response analyzer (FRA) with a measurement range spanning from 10 µHz up to 8 MHz. Delivering 32-bit DC resolution and 24-bit AC resolution (HDP technology) across 12 selectable current ranges, the IM7 is designed for researchers who need both exceptional DC accuracy and high dynamic precision in a single, expandable instrument.

With a compliance voltage of ±28 V and a maximum current output of ±3 A, the IM7 covers a broad range of electrochemical tasks — from corrosion and coating studies to battery diagnostics, fuel cell characterisation, and photoelectrochemical research. An input impedance exceeding 10 TΩ ‖ 5 pF ensures high-fidelity measurements even on highly resistive or passivated samples. A minimum measurable current of ±125 fA opens the instrument to ultra-low-current applications including thin-film analysis and trace detection.

The IM7 is operated through the intuitive Zahner Lab software or remotely automated via the zahner_link API, which communicates using WebSocket connections and structured JSON objects. A C++ core with Python bindings makes integration into existing laboratory automation workflows seamless for both novice and experienced programmers.

Five plug-in expansion slots accept a range of addon cards — including EPC42 (for controlling up to four external power potentiostats or electronic loads), PAD42 (multichannel voltage/current sensing for battery, fuel cell, and electrolyser stacks), TEMP/U (thermocouple and auxiliary voltage inputs), RMUX16 (sequential measurement across up to 64 individual cells), and MIO (four ±10 V analogue output channels) — giving the IM7 the flexibility to grow with your research.
