Longer GD Series Dispensing Peristaltic Pumps

Touchscreen-controlled pumps for calibrated liquid delivery, timed dosing and repeatable volume dispensing

Overview

The Longer GD Series Dispensing Peristaltic Pumps provide controlled liquid transfer and repeatable dispensing for laboratory research, analytical workflows and engineering applications. The series comprises GD200-1B, GD400-1B and GD650-1B, offering maximum motor speeds of 200, 400 and 650 rpm respectively. Each model combines a 5-inch touchscreen, programmable time- and volume-based dispensing, calibration functions and multiple control interfaces. Compatible pump heads and tubing allow users to configure the fluid path for different liquid-handling requirements.

How the GD Series Works

The GD Series operates using a peristaltic mechanism in which rotating rollers progressively compress flexible tubing. This movement transfers liquid through the tubing without requiring direct contact between the liquid and the pump-drive mechanism.

Unlike basic speed-controlled pumps, the GD Series provides multiple dispensing modes:

  • Continuous mode: For ongoing liquid transfer or circulation with speed- or flow-rate-based operation.
  • Time mode: For repeated pumping over defined operating periods.
  • Volume mode: For dispensing specified liquid volumes in repeated sequences.

Flow-rate and volume calibration help account for differences between nominal settings and actual liquid delivery.

A compatible external flow meter may also be integrated for automatic flow calibration and feedback-based operation. This flow meter is optional and must not be assumed to be included with the pump.

Important: The ±0.1% specification refers to motor-speed accuracy, not guaranteed liquid-volume accuracy. The minimum dispensing setpoint is also not a guarantee that every pump-head and tubing configuration can physically deliver that volume.

Compatible Pump Heads and Flow-Rate References

The GD Series can accommodate several manufacturer-specified pump heads. The achievable flow range changes with the selected head and tubing dimensions.

Pump-head configuration GD200-1B GD400-1B GD650-1B
YZ1515X, 3 rollers 730 mL/min 1,460 mL/min 2,350 mL/min
YZ2515X 530 mL/min 1,060 mL/min 1,730 mL/min
YZ25-13X / YZII25 1,000 mL/min 2,000 mL/min 3,250 mL/min
DMD15-13 690 mL/min 1,380 mL/min 2,240 mL/min
FG15-13 800 mL/min 1,600 mL/min 2,600 mL/min
DG15-24 600 mL/min 1,200 mL/min 1,950 mL/min

These are manufacturer-specified single-channel maximum reference flow rates. Actual delivery depends on operating speed, pump-head geometry, tubing properties, liquid characteristics and system resistance.

Pump heads, tubing and optional accessories should be selected for the required configuration and confirmed before ordering.

Selecting the Appropriate GD Model

GD200-1B is suitable for applications where the required pumping capacity can be achieved within a maximum motor speed of 200 rpm.

GD400-1B provides additional drive-speed capacity and greater maximum reference flow with compatible pump heads.

GD650-1B offers the highest maximum speed and reference flow capacity within the three-model family.

The appropriate model should be selected based on required dispensing volumes, flow range, calibration requirements, tubing compatibility and operating conditions—not maximum speed alone.

Typical Applications

The GD Series may be considered for:

  • Repetitive laboratory reagent dispensing
  • Controlled liquid addition to experimental reactors
  • Sample preparation and analytical workflows
  • Flow-chemistry experiments and method development
  • Compatible electrochemical flow-cell systems
  • Automated laboratory fluid transfer and dispensing
  • Research systems requiring timed or volume-based pumping

For aggressive electrolytes, solvents or specialised chemicals, verify the compatibility of the tubing and all wetted fluid-path components.

Integration and Configuration

The GD Series can be operated through its touchscreen, physical controls or compatible remote interfaces.

RS485 communication allows integration with appropriately configured laboratory controllers and automation systems. External control may be useful where the pump must operate alongside other research equipment.

Before ordering, confirm the required pump model, pump head, tubing material and dimensions, dispensing volume, flow range, number of channels and any external-control accessories.

For applications requiring a different multichannel drive arrangement, the Longer GD200-1C should be evaluated separately rather than treated as an interchangeable GD-1B model.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the GD200-1B, GD400-1B and GD650-1B?

The main difference is their maximum motor speed: 200, 400 and 650 rpm respectively. The maximum reference flow rate also changes with the model and pump-head configuration.

Can the GD Series dispense a specified liquid volume?

Yes. The pumps provide volume-based dispensing and calibration functions. Actual delivery accuracy depends on the pump-head and tubing selection, operating conditions and calibration.

What is the difference between the GF and GD Series?

The GF Series focuses on controlled flow-rate operation and calibration, while the GD Series adds more extensive repeat-dispensing functions, including stored dispensing recipes and programmable dispensing sequences.

Does the GD Series include a flow meter?

A compatible external flow meter may be used for automatic calibration and feedback-based operation. It is an optional component and should not be assumed to be supplied as standard.

Can the pumps be integrated into laboratory automation systems?

Yes. The GD Series supports external-control signals and RS485 communication with Modbus RTU or Longer OEM protocols. Integration must be checked for the intended controller and operating requirements.

Can the GD Series be used with electrochemical electrolytes?

Potentially, where the pump and selected fluid path satisfy the experimental requirements. Chemical compatibility, operating pressure, tubing life and acceptable flow pulsation should be assessed.

What information should I provide when requesting a quotation?

Provide the liquid composition, required dispensing volume, flow range, expected operating duration, tubing requirements, number of channels and any communication or automation needs.
