NMO Sodium Nickel-Manganese Oxides

NMO Sodium Nickel-Manganese Oxides

NMO Sodium Nickel-Manganese Oxides Material (NaNi₀.₅Mn₁.₅O₄) Powder

Overview

NMO Cathode Active Material (NaNi₀.₅Mn₁.₅O₄) Powder is a sodium nickel–manganese oxide designed for advanced sodium-ion battery (SIB) research. This layered transition-metal oxide belongs to the NaMO₂-derived cathode family, where partial nickel substitution enhances electronic conductivity while manganese contributes to structural stability and cost efficiency. The material is optimised for laboratory-scale half-cell evaluation and fundamental electrochemical studies.

Working Principle

During electrochemical cycling, sodium ions reversibly intercalate and de-intercalate within the layered oxide lattice between 2.5–4.3 V. The Ni²⁺/Ni³⁺ and Mn³⁺/Mn⁴⁺ redox couples contribute to charge compensation, enabling stable sodium storage with moderate operating voltage and good rate behaviour in half-cell configurations.
