EAL-Foil Etched Aluminum foil

EAL-Foil Etched Aluminum foil

Etched Aluminium Current Collector Foil (Al, ≥99.45%) – 20 µm, 200 mm

EAL-Foil-20 etched aluminium foil is a high-surface-area current collector designed for energy storage electrodes where strong coating adhesion and low interfacial resistance are critical. Compared with smooth aluminium foil, the etched micro-texture increases effective surface area and improves mechanical “keying” of carbon- or oxide-based coatings, helping reduce delamination during drying, calendaring, and cycling.

How it works

The etched surface provides micro-cavities and channels that enhance:

Slurry wetting and anchoring (better coating uniformity)

Contact area at the coating–foil interface (lower contact resistance)

Coating stability under compression (improved calendaring robustness)

Key specifications (EAL-Foil-20)

  • Thickness: 20 ± 1 µm
  • Width: 200 mm ± 1 mm (custom widths available)
  • Areal density: 49 g/m²
  • Surface capacitance: 30–50 µF/cm²
  • High-temperature oxidation resistance: no oxidation after 200 °C × 30 min
  • Aluminium purity: >99.45%
  • Tensile strength: >17 N/cm
  • Ductility: ≥1.6%

Typical applications

  • Supercapacitor electrodes (activated carbon and hybrid systems)

  • Battery cathode current collectors where improved adhesion is required

  • Dry electrode / high-loading coatings that benefit from enhanced mechanical interlock (process-dependent)
