Metal Foil
Battery-Grade Metal Foils (Stainless Steel, Nickel, Titanium, Zinc)
“Other Metal Foil” range includes stainless steel, nickel, titanium, and zinc foils commonly used as substrates, current collectors, and functional metal components in electrochemistry and battery testing. These foils are supplied in research-friendly formats (rolls or sheets) and can be selected based on conductivity, corrosion behaviour, mechanical strength, and chemical compatibility with your electrolyte system.
How it works in electrochemistry and batteries
Metal foils act as an electronically conductive platform that supports an active coating (electrode slurry, catalyst layer, plated metal, or sputtered film) and provides a low-resistance pathway for charge transfer. In cell hardware, foils are also used for tabs, interconnects, masking, shims, and custom electrode geometries where precise thickness and surface quality are important.
Key features
- Material options: Stainless steel (commonly 316), Nickel (high purity grades), Titanium, Zinc
- Configurable dimensions: Thickness and width/length options to suit lab-scale R&D and prototyping
- Good handling properties: Suitable for cutting, punching, laser-patterning, and lamination workflows
- Battery and electrochemistry readiness: Useful for coin cells, pouch-cell R&D, and benchtop electrochemical cells
Typical applications
- Current collectors and substrates for electrode coatings (including catalyst and carbon layers)
- Corrosion and passivation studies in aqueous and non-aqueous electrolytes
- Zinc-based systems (e.g., Zn metal electrodes, plating/stripping experiments)
- Fuel cell and electrolyser component prototyping (tabs, shims, conductive layers)
