This platinum helix wire counter electrode features a coiled (~4 mm diameter) platinum wire of ~0.5 mm diameter and ~230 mm length, typically encased in chemically resistant PTFE sheath. The helix design delivers significantly increased surface area compared to a straight wire, promoting efficient current distribution and minimising local current density in three‑electrode systems. Platinum’s high purity ensures inertness across a wide potential range. Ideal for cyclic voltammetry, electrolysis, and electrosynthesis applications, especially where reaction kinetics and energy density matter. Compatible with standard electrode holders via the PTFE body; length and coil pitch can be customised upon request. Cleaning is easily accomplished via solvent or polishing to restore surface activity.
