High-current electrochemical control with integrated EIS

The Squidstat Decka is a single-channel potentiostat/galvanostat with an integrated frequency response analyser (FRA) designed for experiments that need high current capability while maintaining precise control and analysis. In potentiostatic mode, the instrument regulates the working electrode potential vs the reference electrode using a feedback loop that drives the counter electrode. In galvanostatic mode, it controls current and records the resulting potential response. For electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), a small AC perturbation is applied and the complex impedance is measured across frequency to separate kinetics, charge transfer, and transport processes.

Key specifications and practical features

  • Voltage scan range: ±10 V
  • Maximum current: ±10 A (with multiple current ranges for sensitive-to-high-current work)
  • EIS frequency range: 10 µHz to 2 MHz
  • Operating modes: potentiostat / galvanostat with FRA capability
  • Onboard data backup: 16 GB memory for failsafe recovery
  • Software & automation: Squidstat User Interface (SUI) and API support on Windows, macOS, and Linux

Compatibility and typical applications

Squidstat Decka integrates naturally with 3-electrode and 5-lead electrochemical setups, including H-cells, corrosion cells, battery half-cells, and RRDE configurations (with a suitable rotator). Common applications include:

  • Battery and supercapacitor testing: charge/discharge, capacity, GITT/PITT, EIS diagnostics
  • Corrosion and coatings: polarisation scans, Tafel analysis, OCP monitoring, EIS
  • Electrocatalysis and energy devices: high-current CV/LSV, durability studies, kinetic analysis

Why choose ScienceGears (Australia & NZ)

ScienceGears supports researchers with local guidance on configuration, pairing the Decka with the right electrochemical cells, electrodes, and accessories, and cross-linking workflows to related platforms such as potentiostats, battery cyclers, and spectroelectrochemistry/Raman-SEC cells for combined electrochemical–spectroscopic insight.
