Jacketed Flat Corrosion Cell

Jacketed flat corrosion cell enables precise, temperature-controlled tests on planar coupons. Multi-port design fits reference, counter, and gas electrodes. Ideal for DC polarization and EIS studies.

Overview & Working Principle

The Jacketed Flat Corrosion Cell is designed for controlled electrochemical corrosion testing of flat plate specimens such as metal coupons and coated panels. The specimen is clamped and sealed to form the working electrode boundary of the electrolyte chamber, with a defined exposed area of 1 cm². This fixed geometry improves repeatability and enables reliable normalisation of electrochemical data (e.g., current density, polarisation resistance) for meaningful comparison between materials, coatings, and surface treatments.

A jacketed, water-circulation design allows temperature regulation by flowing thermostated fluid around the cell body. Stable temperature control is valuable for corrosion kinetics, inhibitor screening, and coating barrier studies—especially when comparing performance across different temperatures or when running long-duration EIS tests.

The cell chamber bottom includes an indented base, allowing placement of a magnetic stir bar beneath the chamber to enable magnetic stirring. This supports improved diffusion control and more consistent mass transport conditions where required (for example, during inhibitor testing or when studying oxygen reduction effects in aerated electrolytes).
