Aluminium Supercapacitor Cans

Aluminium Supercapacitor Cans

Aluminium Supercapacitor Cans (Bullhorn/End Cap Types)

These aluminium supercapacitor cans are cylindrical cell housings designed for laboratory and pilot-scale assembly of electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) and hybrid supercapacitors. A well-matched can, cap, seal, and insulator set is critical for achieving low leakage, stable internal resistance, and reliable long-term cycling in electrochemical testing.

Construction and Materials

  • Case & cap: Aluminium (Al) for lightweight construction and good corrosion performance in typical organic electrolyte environments
  • Seal O-ring: EPDM to support robust sealing under compression during cap riveting/crimping
  • Insulation circle: PFA to electrically isolate terminals and reduce the risk of shorting during assembly

Available Models (OD × H, mm)

  • 2245: 22 × 48.5 (Bullhorn caps)
  • 3050: 30 × 53.5 (Bullhorn caps)
  • 1620: 16 × 26.5 (Leaded)
  • 60138: 60.7 × 138 (End cap type)
  • 66160: 64.7 × 160 (End cap type)

How It’s Used in Supercapacitor Assembly

During cell build, the electrode “jelly roll” (or stacked electrodes) is inserted into the can, electrolyte is introduced (as per your protocol), and the cap is secured using appropriate riveting/crimping equipment. The EPDM O-ring and PFA insulator help maintain a stable seal and controlled electrical path—supporting repeatable electrochemical results.

Typical Applications

  • Can-type supercapacitor prototyping and benchmarking (CV, GCD, EIS)
  • Electrode/electrolyte screening for EDLC and hybrid chemistries
  • Process development for cylindrical supercapacitor pilot lines

ScienceGears can support end-to-end workflows by pairing these cans with suitable supercapacitor assembly tools, plus compatible potentiostats/battery cyclers for performance validation.
