Prismatic Cell Case

Prismatic cell cases (aluminium shells) are precision-formed metal housings used to assemble lithium-ion prismatic cells for research prototyping, pilot-line validation, and small-scale manufacturing. The case provides a rigid, lightweight enclosure that supports electrode stack/jelly-roll alignment, enables hermetic sealing, and helps maintain dimensional stability during electrolyte filling, formation cycling, and long-term testing.

How it works

During cell assembly, the electrode stack (with separator) is inserted into the prismatic shell, tabs are prepared for terminal connection, and the cell is sealed using a compatible lid/top cover and sealing method (e.g., welding or mechanical sealing depending on the design). The aluminium shell acts as the external can, offering mechanical protection and supporting controlled compression in modules, which can improve cycling behaviour and safety in prismatic formats.
