Battery Tab Tape
Battery Tab Tape (Hot Melt Adhesive/Sealant) – 0.1 mm
Battery Tab Tape is a heat-activated hot melt adhesive/sealant used during pouch-cell assembly to seal current-collector tabs (Ni or Al) into the aluminium laminated film (pouch cell case). When laminated under controlled heat and pressure, the polymer layer softens and flows to wet both the tab and the laminate interface, forming an insulating, electrolyte-resistant seal that helps prevent leakage pathways and reduces edge-related failure risks in lithium-ion pouch cells.
Key Specifications
- Colours: Milk-white, yellow, black
- Thickness: 0.1 mm (100 µm class)
- Standard widths: 8 mm / 10 mm (custom widths available)
- Roll format: commonly supplied as long-length rolls for production consistency
Why it matters in pouch-cell builds
A robust tab-to-laminate seal must deliver two functions simultaneously:
- Electrical insulation at the pouch edge (mitigates shorting and edge puncture risk)
- Metal bonding + sealing at the tab feedthrough (improves mechanical integrity and reduces delamination under cycling stress)
Compatibility and typical use
- Cell formats: polymer lithium-ion pouch cells (R&D, pilot line, and small-batch manufacturing)
- Interfaces: aluminium laminated film with Ni or Al tabs
- Process fit: compatible with common tab sealing / heat sealing workflows used in pouch-cell fabrication
