Coin cell Cases

Coin Cell Cases, Spacers & Springs (CR Series)

coin cell cases, spacers, and spring components are precision metal hardware used to assemble CR-type coin cells for electrochemical and battery testing. In a standard stack (case–electrode–separator–counter electrode–spacer–spring–cap), the case set provides alignment and sealing, while the spacer and spring maintain controlled compression for stable interfacial contact and repeatable impedance/voltage behaviour during cycling.

Materials and configurations

These components are commonly supplied in SS304 or SS316 for corrosion resistance and mechanical stability. Depending on chemistry and measurement needs, variants may include gold-coated (lower contact resistance), Al-coated, and Kapton-insulated/window-style options to reduce shorting risk and improve compatibility with sensitive electrodes and electrolytes.

Common formats available

Coin cell cases (CR series): CR2032, CR2016, CR2025, CR2450, CR2430, CR2325, CR1016, CR1620, CR1632, CR1616, CR1220, CR1820 (O-ring/casing separated type), CR2477, plus CR2032/2025 lithium-air case variants.
Coin cell spacers (typical): 15.8 mm diameter (0.2 / 0.5 / 0.8 / 1.0 mm), 16.2 mm (0.5 / 0.8 mm), and 20.2 mm (0.4 mm) options.
Springs: wave springs (Belleville washers) and conical springs to maintain constant stack pressure during electrode swelling/shrinkage.

Compatibility and applications

Ideal for Li-ion, Na-ion, Zn-based cells, supercapacitors, and lithium-air research in gloveboxes or dry rooms, and compatible with coin-cell crimpers, sealing dies, and battery cyclers.

Why choose ScienceGears
