Double Salt Bridge Saturated Calomel Electrode
Double Salt Bridge Saturated Calomel Electrode
Product Description
This double-junction Saturated Calomel Electrode adds a second salt bridge (outer chamber) to minimise ion crossover between the reference filling solution and the test electrolyte—useful for low-chloride, fouling-prone or sensitive analyte systems. You retain the advantages of SCE (stable, well-defined potential in saturated KCl; ~+0.244 V vs NHE at 25 °C) while lowering the risk of junction poisoning and sample contamination. Best practice includes checking the junction flow (drop rate), keeping both bridges filled with the correct electrolyte, and replacing/cleaning frits when impedance rises. Where mercury handling is restricted, consider Ag/AgCl or Hg/Hg2SO4, depending on chloride constraints.
