In-situ Raman Spectroelectrochemical Cell – REC 02

In-Situ Raman Spectroelectrochemical Cell for Real-Time Interface Studies

The In-Situ Raman Spectroelectrochemical Cell – REC 02 is designed for researchers who need to combine electrochemical control with Raman spectroscopy in a compact, chemically resistant platform. By allowing Raman measurements to be collected through a quartz optical window while the sample is under applied potential or current, the cell supports real-time investigation of molecular, structural and interfacial changes during electrochemical reactions. This makes it highly useful for mechanistic studies where ex-situ analysis may miss transient species or potential-dependent surface transformations.

Working Principle and Cell Design

REC 02 uses a PEEK cell body with a quartz window and fluororubber sealing components, providing good chemical resistance and a stable optical path for in-situ Raman measurements. The standard cell configuration includes a platinum wire counter electrode and an Ag/AgCl reference electrode. It is designed to accommodate plate-type working electrodes such as ITO glass, FTO glass and metal plates, making it suitable for a broad range of thin-film, coated-substrate and flat-electrode experiments.

Key Technical Features

  • PEEK body with quartz optical window
  • Fluororubber sealing parts
  • External size: Ø70 × 24 mm
  • Cell volume: 6 mL
  • Window path: Ø27 mm
  • Quartz window thickness: 1 mm
  • Suitable sample size: 25 × 25 mm, thickness 0 to 2.2 mm
  • Effective reaction area: Ø22 mm
  • Distance between working surface and window bottom: 3 mm
  • Includes platinum wire counter electrode and Ag/AgCl reference electrode

Typical Applications

REC 02 is well suited to in-situ Raman studies in electrocatalysis, corrosion and coatings, surface films, electrodeposition, semiconductor electrodes, functional materials and energy storage research. It is especially valuable where researchers need to monitor potential-driven chemical changes directly at or near the electrode–electrolyte interface.
