YP180 Desktop Hydraulic Press for Coin Cell Electrodes
YP180 Desktop Hydraulic Press for Coin Cell Electrodes (Ø50 mm Die)
The YP180 is a compact, desktop hydraulic press designed for controlled, repeatable compaction of powders and coated electrodes used in materials chemistry and battery research. It is well-suited to coin cell electrode preparation, where consistent calendering/compaction helps improve electrode density, particle–particle contact, and overall cell-to-cell reproducibility.
Working Principle
A manual lever drives an integrated hydraulic pump, converting operator force into high compressive pressure at the press ram. The applied pressure is monitored via the front gauge, enabling users to press powders into pellets or compact electrode discs using a die set. The mould/die can be supplied in customised sizes to suit different sample formats.
Key Specifications
- Press die size: Ø50 mm (customised options available)

Typical Applications
- Coin cell (e.g., 20xx series) electrode disc compaction and densification
- Powder pellet pressing for materials characterisation workflows (e.g., comparative conductivity, mechanical integrity screening)
- General laboratory sample preparation requiring compact, benchtop pressing capability
Integration in a Battery R&D Workflow
This press pairs naturally with slurry mixing, coating/drying, and downstream electrochemical testing. For a complete workflow, consider pairing with ScienceGears potentiostats/galvanostats, battery cyclers, and relevant cell hardware to streamline electrode development from fabrication to validation.
